Artist Visit: Kevin Snipes

As our ceramics department begins to settle into the new semester and new year, our department welcomes Kevin Snipes as our first visiting artist of 2018.

Kevin was born in Philadelphia, but grew up mostly in Cleveland, Ohio. He received a B.F.A. in ceramics and drawing from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1994. Kevin primary works as a studio artist, he combines his drawing skills with his technical hand building to create remarkable illustrations on slab built vessels. He refers to himself as a storyteller, working with images from his childhood and current situations.

Kevin gave the department a demo on his building and incising methods, an artist talk on his inspirations, and critiques with our juniors and seniors.
