KCAI Visiting Artist: Patti Warashina

This past week our KCAI ceramics department received a visit by world renowned artist Patti Warashina. Warashina earned both her BFA (1962) and MFA (1964) from the University of Washington, Seattle. She later taught at WU for 25 years where she brought national recognition to their ceramics program.

Warashina spent the day giving a demo to the students of KCAI’s ceramics department. Students were able to receive knowledge of her hand building techniques as well as casually converse and ask questions to a well-renowned artist in their field.

Warashina also gave a lecture about her work and its progression from the 1960’s to present as a part of our Current Perspective Lecture series.

Warashina spent the rest of the week giving individual critiques to sophomores and juniors of the ceramics department as they start their semester creating new work.
